Bradford, UK

Greetings Campers. here we are back banging on our banjos in Bradford, the old mill town in Yorkshire, England - part of a run of intermitent gigs around the UK for the next few weeks. I got back safely from the US and have got over the jet lag, started painting the house a bit, doing some ironing and the joyous little humdrum tasks that make me feel a bit more like a normal human being.

I jumped on a train up from Kent to London, and then changed stations to Kings Cross to make the journey from London to Leeds - and from thence onto Bradford. Bumped into Will at the station, but we travelled in different carriages.

It turned out Leisa was on the same train too, and we all hooked up at Leeds to make the final leg to Bradford together

Walking to the theatre from the station, Will has got a groovy new hat which makes him look like some kind of street hustler.

This is the St Georges Hall, one of the two magnificent theatres in Bradford - the other is the Alhambra - which we played a couple of years ago. the stage is bigger at the Alhambra, but St Georges holds more people. Our show had sold well and (according to the stage manager) we had outsold Wet Wet Wet, who are still on the touring treadmill - but without their lead singer Marti Pellow. We really do live in a post modern world, the theatre program here at St George’s Hall is packed with tributes - Queen, Whitney, Bowie, Elvis, obviously dying is a great way of getting ahead in showbiz these days.

Soundchecking

God knows what he was laughing at!

Waiting on the stairs to go on

The show was well received in the classic Yorkshire taciturn way (lots of folded arms) but by the end we had a standing ovation and plenty of people waited behind to get merch/tickets signed.

This young lad asked us to sign his ukulele pick - not easy, but with a special pen we managed to get all eight of us on!

Packing up after the show - we're going to Salford tomorrow - I'll see you there.
